The town grew significantly
The town grew significantly in the late 19th century, spurred by the opening of the railway in 1863, which led to the construction of many new homes and a population boom. Indeed, during this century, many of Buxton's most iconic landmarks were built, including the Natural Baths, the granite Solomon's Temple, also known as Grinlow Temple, and the luxurious Palace Hotel, one of the finest hotels in Buxton.
